Post Re: Stand-up Stick Stand (easy DIY)
Thanks for the design and instructions. I put it all together yesterday and am very happy with the result. It makes it easier for me to play my Railboard and helps with the ergonomics. I’m able to have both hands in more comfortable positions and to see where I’m playing with my right hand more accurately.

There is a bit of wobble or flexing at the point where it connects to the belt hook but it doesn’t effect playing at all.

That’s fantastic, I’m really glad it works for someone else! Can you post some photos? Would love to see your build. The SUSS has certainly made a difference to my practising.

Yes, mine is the same. There’s a degree of movement at the belt hook itself but the stand is very stable. I think the only answer to this would be a different design which removes the belt hook and attaches or clamps directly to the instrument.

Pictures! Can you share something?

I was thinking some twist lock quick release bolts would be a nice touch then it would make it easy to attach detach

Jkick, thanks for sharing those photos, your stand looks great in wood - I should’ve done that. Really glad you were able to run with this design and it’s working for you too.

See how you go with adjustments, I found I preferred my Stick slightly more upright. The belt hook incorporates 30 degrees of left tilt but of course with SUSS you can easily add more or less, as you like. I also slanted mine back slightly towards my shoulder, easy to do with the right-hand knob on this stand.

Nice job!

mike.hoegeman, some quick release bolts would be a good idea, I will look around for those. Is there something you had in mind? I used regular M5’s (like #10-32) with knurled heads, and wing nuts that I had to hand.

Just now I packed-up the SUSS for the weekend and it was quite quick to store the instrument.

WerkSpace that is a really nice stand! The adjustability looks great. I wonder how much flex you get from the curved U shape you fabricated, it looks really neat. How is the movement and stability?

I didn't make the curved U shape, it's the original Stick belt hook.
The stand is designed to hold an amp and has an adjustable tilt setting.

Scronk: I find that I can tilt the stick a little bit more towards me which helps. But I think you could put it in almost any position with this stand. Also, it was pretty simple to make. There are other good designs but they involve more woodworking tools and talent then I possess.
