Hello everyone.
Just wondering if any one is using a headphone amp to practice? I want to start moving my stick around the house without having to lug my amps around. I guess i am lazy, but i don't want to bother my wife when i am fiddling around. i have been searching for a while, and just wondering if anyone has any recommendations. this would make it easier for me to just grab my stick and play anywhere in the house as opposed to being in my studio all the time. Any input would be great thanks.

I'm a big fan of SaturnWorks pedals for utilitarian things. He makes custom, high quality, and still affordable pedals. A lot of the time, comparable products that you can find at Guitar Center are just overpriced for what you get.

Bryan (the owner and designer) could easily make you a dual input version of this:

I love the Zoom H4 or H6. They’re stereo and have a built-in tuner and metronome. They’re made to be portable digital recorders so you can record new ideas or use it as instant feedback for checking your skills. There’s quite a few of these portable recorders made by Sony, Tascam and Panasonic and I haven’t tried them but I’ve been happy enough with the Zoom.

Hi
I also use the Zoom H4N pro when I`m travelling for some reasons:

stereo inputs -> stereo recording
and 2 microphones onboard (playing + singing -> 4 track recording!)
metronome onboard
some effects on board
standard headphone connection

The sound is ok for the features and the price.
PS: Used it with the Block(railboard) and ACT2

I've been using the headphones output from my Mix-8. Great EQ and aux out for effects if I want it. Some smaller boards have onboard effects, I prefer pedals.

Not at all portable, and the power brick is a drag but one more good use for a small $76 mixer.

I still have a couple of those old Scholz Rockman things and they work OK if you can sum your Stick pickups to mono internally or with something like an SFX SP2 or a small mixer if you have a Stickup. Those Scholz things have a compressor and some basic built-in EFX like reverb, delay, chorus and distortion which are available in several combinations. They used to be found at yard sales and pawn shops for $20 but suddenly they're "collectible" and cost $75-$225 on Reverb and eBay. If you have one laying around and happen to like the sound it's one way to go for a tabletop silent practice rig.

The Zoom is great for walking around untethered (even outside/in the park/with the dog) and if the muse hits, hit "record". No sound mods, but you got true Stick sound (which is pretty marvelous). I have the first H2 and you can mono the inputs so the phones outputs are in both sides. I needed a couple of adapters to go from 2 phono outs to 1/8" stereo in. There's enough headroom to deal with the Stickup to the PASV4 and EMG active p.u. (I have them all). You have an everywhere recording device (the bilt-in mics even on this one are great) AND...HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER

Seems I was unaware of the Zoom H4n! Looks like a nice little unit for the price.
