Post subject:  Recording set up for stereo tracks?

So I finally get my sheet together for the Great Stick Collab, to find that I still don't know how to track this thing properly. Recording overall, has clearly not been high on my list , so a question.

How do I set up tracks? I tried two stereo tracks but as you can see , I get some cross bleed of melody or bass side, on either track . Is that normal?

Thanks for your help chasps.

Is your mono switch on or off. Looks like the same signal on both tracks. I usually record two mono tracks one for bass and of for melody. Im not an expert so not really sure what Im saying lol

Very interested in this topic too. I've been mic'ing up an amp for both sides of the stick at once and I'd love to be able to remove the amp entirely if i so choose to.

Josh, have you tried something like the Tech 21 SansAmp Character pedals in place of your amps? If you're an amps-and-pedals guy and don't want to get into digital modeling, the Character pedals (and others) work really well for ampless recording. Easy to use one pedal per Stick side for two-track takes.

I've looked into it. I like sansamps for live performance, but having that much routing for recording doesn't appeal to me. Currently looking at a mod duo type solution but alas i have no extra money with which to buy cool things.

The Scarlet 2i2 will do it.

I have it set up for stereo into my macbook for Mainstage. And am using a KMI Softstep to control it.

Also works with Garage Band.

Yeah i have that too going into reaper. I have yet to find a DI tone with it that I can stand, let alone like. I tend to either mic an amp or rub through my boss katana as a preamp, but that thing is strictly mono

I normally record each side of the stick into separate mono channels with preamp, compression, and a few other goodies added before the track. I use the Behringer XR18 for rack effects and DAW. Best piece of gear ever -- I use it for live performance as well.

The cross-talk between sides seems unavoidable.

I'm in stereo on the stick and going into two separate stereo tracks on my DAW. Please keep the tech help coming. Robstafarian perhaps....? Anyone really. xo
