Post Fishman Loudbox Performer
Greetings! I was wondering if any of you folks had much experience with the Loudbox Performer?I am downsizing from my QSC K12's into a smaller rig, as I am not playing in large venues or loud music anymore. my questions are: Does it handle the bass side well, and are the effects decent? Also, has anyone used their sub woofer with the amp. I am mostly playing with small acoustic ensembles of percussion and kora/ngoni type instruments. Id like to have good bottom end but planning on playing in more of a Stereo/mono mode. Thanks for your time!

I perform exclusively through the smaller version of the Performer, the Loudbox Artist. Had it for 6 years. Love it. Sounds great. Full range. Very light weight. But big sound, even the bass.

I don't know if the audio carries through in my youtube videos, but here's a sample:

Or check out my bandcamp or soundcloud site. My last album First Contact was recorded with the Fishman. It worked really well. Simple. Excellent sound. Effects work well for me (I've had no issues). There is send/return jacks for both channels.

Randy, also check out Mesa Boogie's Rosette, up to 300W. Just came out recently, two 8"speakers, works with acoustic basses as well, two channel.

rclere - Thanks! Didn't mean to hijack your post here, but...I'm a big believer in the Fishman amps plus I have a few recordings, so I'd share here.

Fishman's headquarters is in Massachusetts (I think) and they have amazing service. One of my channels went out (due to basement moisture...my fault). It was out of warranty by 6 months, but the factory took care of it for free anyway. They even shipped it return for free (to a US address only...had it sent to family in TX).

MichNS - NOW I'm interested in this Mesa 300W amp. Do you have it? How would you rate it? Looks like it costs more than the Fishman...but it has more wattage. I may see if any of the Regina stores carry that.

I just ordered the Loudbox Performer w/ their powered sub woofer!!.. I talked to one of their techs, and you're right, they are courteous, friendly and go the extra mile. They also said that the addition of the sub would really rock!!
I like customer service like that. As soon as I get it, I will post something. Thanks SO much for your time and correspondence!

Yes, please share when you get this new rig. I'm curious of the subwoofer now.

I'd like to invest in a backup amp...maybe a second fishman. Maybe get a subwoofer to use when necessary...

Brian, I had this insanely great but big rig I was using... 2 QSC K12's and the Helix. the Helix was amazing!. It was really overkill, but heck, it sounded great. I checked out your videos and was captured by the sound of your Fishman, for sure. I am playing more acoustic stuff, with African percussionists and singer songwriters. So, I sold everything and am going with the rig that I told you about, and I am going to pick up a Boss ME80 for effects on the melody side. I do not use much on the bass side, just some compression, phase90 and delay. I am really excited to get this new rig. Ill keep in touch.

You ditched the Helix? I thought you really dug it, Randy?

I haven't checked one out yet as the nearest dealer is over an hour drive from me, ever since Mesa Boogie axed the Guitar Centers.

I used to have a Fishman Loudbox 100 like yours. But I kept running into issues with not enough volume in the bass when playing with other people. And oddly one of my acoustic guitars would seriously feedback through it. Sold it and bought a QSC K8 on clearance when QSC introduced their new Series. I have the same setup Randy did with the Helix through two K12s. I run all of my instruments through those but often I don't want to drag all of that outside of my house.

With the Fishman I had to send it back a couple of times. Service was great, good people. I have heard a Stick played through one of those 180 Watt Perfomers, they sound pretty good. I am curious about the Boogie as it's 300W and 26 lbs, two 8" speakers.
