Audio to MIDI. Can you imagine the possibilities?
I've also downloaded the demo and will give it a try. Thanks...

I downloaded both the Windows and Mac versions and then saw that there is a Guitar MIDI and then a new beta BASS MIDI:

Quote:
Unlike the guitar version, MIDI Bass is monophonic only for now. This means you’ll have to be careful not sounding more strings at once. We’ve been working on a duo-phonic solution for bass and its promising, but still needs a little polish.

Now to actually try it out!

Adds: It's under a $100!

Quote:
MIDI GUITAR & MIDI BASS $99.95

Special Early Adopter Discount:
Get MIDI Guitar v1 + v2 and MIDI Bass for the price of one.

This is a personal license to use MIDI Guitar version 1 and 2, as well as MIDI Bass.

MIDI Guitar turns any guitar into a truly polyphonic MIDI guitar.

MIDI Bass turns any electric bass guitar into a MIDI bass.

Both products includes VST and AudioUnit plugins as well as standalone application for both 32 and 64 bit Windows and Mac systems. It is compatible with most digital audio workstations.

Since MIDI Bass is still in beta testing this is basically an offer for all MIDI Guitar customers to get MIDI Bass free of charge. (ie. when the offer ends, you get either MIDI Guitar or MIDI Bass at this price).

Combine these two products and the sky is the limit!

You could use certain notes on the Stick to trigger presets.

I've found the JamOrigin software to work pretty darn well. It's not as good as a hardware device like the TriplePlay, but it's still very good. Enjoy exploring it. One thing to note about how I'm using it inside of GigPerformer is that I feed both the melody and bass sides into one instance of Midi Guitar. I do this because I want the notes I play in both hands to contribute to the pad sound from Hive. Since I am using Midi Guitar, on the bass side this means the lowest notes (notes below the range of a guitar) do not trigger midi data. This is exactly what I want since I want the pad to stay in the mid and high ranges. If you want to trigger midi notes in a range below guitar, then you'd likely want to run the melody side into Midi Guitar and the bass side into Midi Bass.

I still go into shock when I think what I used to pay for Protools Mix Farms & 888/24 Interfaces.
For 129 dollars we should be running through the streets celebrating when you think just what this stuff can do now. Just a random thought :ugeek:

On Reaper I should revisit it, remembering when it first appeared.

My bad, Bruce, it's only $95--not even $129!. I just bought it and MIDI bass thrown in for free. I bought Reaper a long time ago and meant to play with it, but never found the time. I didn't know it was so portable and would run from a USB drive.

And yes, I actually have paid a hell of a lot more money for gear that hardly worked at all to do something that some free or really cheap software plugin now does for me (like vintage keyboards and mixing boards and compressors and ...etc.).

I was having a moment of audio nostagia!

Hope Lord Vader is pushing you to the dark side , in a good way :D

Getting the NS has triggered a round of GAS in me, because I have 3 Sticks and not a single piece of guitar effects hardware or controller to my name. I'm having fun in like 4 gear-and-software threads right now trying to get a good mix of software and hardware to do what I want to do (which is rock it out, of course!) And I'm also loving the heck out of the NS in general but I've taken up enough of this thread. :ugeek:

Just a next-day check-in: Jam Origin MIDI Guitar (2) is the mother-frickin' BOMB, people. Da bomb. They're gonna make a shit-ton of money licensing their product to others. I've read several glowing reviews and have to add my own (more still to come.) But this technology fills a much-needed hole in music production (at least among stringed-instrument players).

I'm gonna be adding a fat-ass string line to double my lead lines. Or a fat-ass synth sound. Or just some phat-azz anything in the whole world, because I can now double, triple, quintuple, any guitar line with a tracked MIDI keyboard line. This is gonna be soooo awesome! (I'm easily excited, I know, but pretty pegged on the excite-o meter).

https://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/2015/11/3 ... di-guitar/

Quote:
And like Melodyne, I suspect Jam Origin will be licensing this technology to a number of music software manufacturers, making its future integration into DAWs even more seamless.) Finally, someone invented a polyphonic MIDI interface that works with any electric guitar -- no proprietary hex pickup and 13-pin cable needed -- and that translates notes on the guitar into polyphonic MIDI data.

Another great review and article here:
https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/ ... idi-guitar

Quote:
In the last few years, there have been two notable advances in polyphonic MIDI guitar technology. The first is the Fishman TriplePlay guitar pickup, which transmits MIDI data wirelessly to a USB dongle for direct access to software synths and sequencing software. Tracking delays with the TriplePlay are dependent on software settings (sample rate and buffer size), but typical values for the Fishman TriplePlay seem to be comparable or perhaps slightly better than Roland’s current systems.

The second recent advance is Jam Origin’s MIDI Guitar software for computer or iOS devices, which requires no special pickup yet allows for polyphonic MIDI conversion. You connect your guitar to an audio interface, route it through MIDI Guitar, enable a software synth, and route out to a PA or amp. Measured tracking delays with MIDI Guitar software running as a VST plug-in within Ableton Live using a Zoom TAC-2 Thunderbolt audio interface set to a 44.1 kHz sample rate with a buffer setting of 64 samples, fell between about 30 ms for low notes and 20 ms for high notes.

While not perfect, these two systems offer a convenient—and thus very appealing—way to tap into the unlimited palettes of software synths and computer-based effects.

I know a bunch of us have been searching for this solution to Stick MIDI and many have gone the GK-3 way. This seems to be a equally viable--and perhaps with more development, even better--solution. The future is here! Thanks, Karma, Dean, all!

I tried this Audio to MIDI software http://www.jamorigin.com/
with my Chapman Stick and my PRS Custom 24 guitar.
The good news was that there were no latency issues with my Steinberg UR44 and ASIO driver.
The bad news was that although this technology does work, it doesn't work very well.

The tracking of notes was problematic, especially with the bass notes.
There's supposedly another version of the software for bass.
I was able to emulate a wide variety of instruments from my NI Komplete collection.
https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-11/

I own both the GR-55 with GK-3 pickup and the Fishman TriplePlay
which both work much better than this software.
