Re: midi - how to connect my stick to midi
Hi you need additional to the Midi Pickup (GK3) a Roland Device (e.g. the GR55 oder GR20) which supports the GK3. Greetings Gerald

Re: midi - how to connect my stick to midi
The term "Midi Pickup" is very misleading.
The GK-3 pickup is actually six separate pickups, one for each string (for a guitar).
It still requires external gear (like the GR-55) to convert the vibration into midi note information.
The extra cost is too much for me... $450 custom Gk-3 and $700 for GR-55... I see several players moving to the SY-300 ($700) which does not require any special pickup. I've played with one and it's really amazing...
SY-300 is still too much for me and I really don't need it... I did get a Sonuus G2M (version 3) and I use it on the bass side of my NS to trigger pads and other synth sounds. G2M is mono-phonic so it will only do one note at a time.

Re: midi - how to connect my stick to midi
If you're interest is purely to run to a computer or some other piece of outboard gear, you can look for a used Roland GI-20 or GI-10. These units strictly converted output from GK pickup to MIDI and did nothing else. They're fairly inexpensive on the used market these days.
I've used a GI-20 in the past and it worked quite well. I've never used the older GI-10 but Tom Griesbraber has, on many occasions, commented that he thought the 10 was a better tracking unit.
The GR units are fine units but they are full on synth modules and you're paying for that. If you're only interested in MIDI in to a computer, the GR unit is a whole lot of wasted money.

For those that are just looking for effects and custom tones, have a look at using Native Instrument's Guitar Rig. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/guitar/guitar-rig-5-pro/ There's lots of options out there.
