Post Stickup pick up question
Those who have a Stickup pickup:

Is it possible to process the two signals from the Stickup into one signal into a single input?

Absolutely. Just get yourself a small mixer or preamp and run both sides of the Stick into it. You'll be able to EQ the bass and melody separately and set output levels for each side. From the mixer, you just run mono out to your amp.

If you just have a single channel amp and no mixer or preamp, a Y adapter will provide a quick and dirty solution. It does the job, but sucks a whole lot of tone and volume out of the signal.

This is the ticket if you got a few bucks laying around. Unlike a tabletop mixer, it fits in the zipper pocket of your gig bag and runs on batteries. It'd be especially good for fly gigs where you're never quite sure what kind of amp will be provided.
http://www.sfxsound.co.uk/sp2/ check out the Andy Salvanos sound samples. He plays a stickup thru one of these and recommended it to me. Pretty clean and fat. http://andysalvanos.bandcamp.com/track/summer

Plus some of my favorite combo amps for Stick are mono and have only one input jack like the Fender Steel King.

Thanks Matt and Capin'

That SP2 from SFX looks like a great unit to have especially with the Stickup - Might put that on my wishlist for a future rig build - Have been looking at getting a couple Radial SB-2's for the front end of my signal path.

Not sure about this, but I thought with passive pick-ups you wanted an active pre-amp like the Radial SB-1 or SB-4.

yes i run my dual inputs to a A/B box and that signal then goes into my tuner and through the rest of my pedals

Doc, That would make sense that the passive Stickup would use an active not passive DI so maybe the SB-4 since it's got a high input impedance of 5 MOhms right..?

Gnat, What type pickup do you use? What type or brand A/B?

Thanks all - Kb

I know this subject has already been discussed and is elementary to a lot of people but I'm just learning it now... :D

Find below from Radial:
http://www.radialeng.com/pdfs/Selecting ... r-bass.pdf

So for my passive Stickup the first step in my signal path will be a couple of Radial "active" SB-4's or an equivalent item like the SP-2...

Any additional thoughts?

I can only tell you what I've read and what I've done... From what I've read the SB-4 should work. What I did was get a used acoustic crate amp. It has an input impedance of 3.3 MOhm and works great. At only $300, it wasnt too expensive either. If he'd had one in stock, I would have looked at the fishman loudbox artist.

I need to focus on learning to play first...if I only play for small groups and /or acoustic sets, I dont really need anything else, so I should be set for a long time.

I did try a few low impedance amps (was looking for a really cheap practice option) really had to crank up the vollume and tone was thinner, but usable. But adding two preamps would have put me in the same price range, and speaker was much smaller so probable still not as nice a sound.

I have one of these:

It does not seem to negatively impact the tone..
