I myself am quite interested in the Mod Duo, but I also find myself interested in a "Mainstage" setup with a MacBook, maybe with a Apogee Gio controller or something.

I gotta stay the hell away from you guys, y'all are a bad influence... :D

Haha! I started a Mainstage string a while ago... http://www.stickist.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10899

You just can't beat $29.99 for such an amazing software. I just moved my focus to be more gig ready and away from computer based and to pedalboard based...
Amp sims are actually really good. There are a bunch of great effects on their "pedalboard" plugin as well. I got Positivegrid's Bias FX plugin too... That has very good effects in it.

It's like Logic Pro but cut out the recording stuff and focus on live environment.
It is more Keyboard focused... but totally great for guitar based stuff too. Enjoy!

For a limited time they are offering a special discount to Stick players who are serious about buying a unit right now.

Send me a private message and I will give you instructions on how to receive the discount.

It sounds like you have pretty high expectations of the headphone output, and my guess is that the Duo probably won't meet them.....

Hey - thanks for the feedback! This was one of those things where I was sitting around late one night wishing I had some sort of convenient headphone amp to practice with and not wake up the kids. I have a PJB Briefcase (which I love), but the headphone amp really sounds bad to me - so I don't use it. I was already intrigued by the Duo and when I realized it could also potentially be used for a headphone amp it just stoked the fire.

I may have to order one soon. :-)

I picked up a used FCB1010 several months ago (along with a weird rack-mount bass processor that I'm not sure I'll ever really use). Steve - you and I need to actually meet up at one of the Oz Stick Nights or something. It sounds like we have a lot of the same gear. I think a Duo is my next purchase. :-)

Between the Stick guys in Ann Arbor and the ones here on the forum, there's a lot of good knowledge and experience to tap. And it helps to play with other people's stuff and then say "hey, I TOO want an NS/Stick!"

It sounds like the FCB1010 has got quite a good community modding it and hacking it and using it. I can't wait to get into it! And yes, we need to all hook up here again soon and compare gear! It's been since before Christmas!

Here is a video the guys at MOD put together showing two of the pitch shifting plugins called (Capo and Drop).
Capo will pitch up and Drop pitches down.
They also show how they assign a Midi expression pedal to it and use it like a Whammy pedal.

It's also a great video showing how you can split and mix signals to get some very interesting effects.

I currently do this with my Whammy-DT since I don't have enough CPU to use these plugins with my current setup... but in the Duo you have more flexibility with setting levels of each pitch and routing it wherever you want. I may even experiment with routing the bass side to the cabinet or preamp plugin and skip the distortion plugin to get a clean bass sound... it all depends on what you want to do.
You can see that their CPU usage goes into the red... especially when they increase the resolution of the plugins to "hi-fi".

If you have a Duo you can download this pedalboard and try it out.
