Post EASY TO BUILD STICK STAND DBRO
Populous! Here are the pics and directions for making one of the most easiest and handiest DIY projects that can really help you out playing the Stick. There are some other great DIY Stick Stands on other posts ranging from a "hammock" to some really innovative designs- with welds and ones that fold down for transport. Here's one I came up with.

I made it from scraps from making the DBro Holder, but you can easily use any wood and even just square pieces and a simple piece of felt you can buy at a craft store for under $1 USD.

you will need
1) a small board - mine was 5 1/2" by 11"
2) 8 small straight pieces
3) small piece of felt

I like Titebond glue, but any good wood glue would work.

A regular tubular guitar stand can be used. Just take the bottom prong off, and draw pencil lines on the bottom outlining the two prongs. Glue 4 small staight pieces on the outside lines - not too tight otherwise you fuss but enough to keep it from wiggling, and glue in place. You want it so you can just put it on without a lot of effort or having to look.

Next, on the top build a little "fort" with the remaing 4 pieces. The inside of the "fort: should be 1 1/2 " by 4 1/2" with a depth of 1/2". Just use width of the pieces with 1/2".

Lastly, take the felt piece, cut the four corners slightly to have it go into the depth of the "fort" and glue it in place. Let all the glue set for the recommdations on the glue bottle.

That's it. You might have to bend the prongs out, or just angle the Stick in first just slightly, and then place it in the "Felt Fort"!

Hope it helps, and Happy Holidays- see you didn't get a lump of coal, you got a free Stand!

Thanks DBRO! This is a realization of some similar, but more ephemeral thoughts that have wandered through my head. Well executed, AND documented. Now I have no excuse for not having a stand.

Nice. Or you could use screw-in rubber furniture feet to build the fort and keep the wood in place.

I picked up a very stable tilt back Amp Stand at a local pawn shop for a few bucks.
This could be very useful for playing Stick without a strap or belt hook.
