Post Railboard --> popping and clicking
Lately, my Railboard has been popping and clicking.
The problem was associated with the pickup connector.
This can be very distracting when trying to compose.

Tonight, I took the pickup cover off and inspected it.
The connector has three gold contacts in a row
mounted to a circuit board with SMD components.

- I tried cleaning the contacts with DeOxit D5 but no joy.
- I re-soldered the three contacts to the circuit board.

I noticed that the three gold contacts are very close to the cover
which is made of aluminum, so I installed some electrical tape
on the cover as a precaution. I re-assembled the pickup
and no more popping and clicking. No more distractions. 8-)

I found a soldering iron that uses my cordless tool batteries.
I chose the one for Makita batteries. It heats up in seconds
and the battery seems to last for a very long time.
It's so nice to have true portability for working on projects.

I admire that you are able to fix your stick. I on the other hand have the King Midas in reverse syndrome. When I fix something, I end up having to have another person fix the things that I broke.

You have the Zen and the Art of Stick Maintenance down pat.
