Post Lost in Australia - Part 2
Meanwhile stuck on the west coast of Australia , I arranged another gig at an open night. Nice pub , popular venue for rock bands but with an open night on Fridays which is unusual. Big crowd in, enjoying the freedom of the one state in Aus free of COVID. Sound guys in all sorts of bother getting a sound from me, luckily I owned a studio for 10 years & helped sort the issues. This time i took the Laptop & Apogee DUET & just gave gave them a couple of line outs from Logic X with FX & EQ ready to go. Anyway..... tech issues solved I launched in to it. Big Sound & big foldback, fun to see people spin around with a WTF look & move towards the stage. I always start with " New Blue" simple walking bass & partly inprov right hand theme , easy these days & a great Stick intro for Punters. So off we went for nearly 25 minutes, lots of floods making me sweat but I just gave it 108%. I think its my best live gig yet. Aint no Sunshine, Layla & Little Wing plus some originals, vocals right on the money. Some work colleagues who live in the state turned up , having heard about " the stick " for years. Fun times. As usual , special thanks to Steve A for all the chats, inspiration & worldly Stick wisdom. Years of work condensed in a special moment for me. Big reaction , lots of discussion afterwards. Another venue lined up for next week.
