Post Brit Floyd
Hi all,

A friend and I had the good fortune to see Brit Floyd last night at the Detroit Music Hall which features, among others, stickist.com member Ian Catell (Zaphod42) singing, playing bass, and playing the Stick.

I'll be honest that I was never much for the idea of the tribute band but I have always been a Floyd fan and after Ian posted his version of "One Slip" I started looking at some of their other videos and was really impressed at their attention to detail and their delivery of these tunes.

So off we went and we weren't disappointed. The band delivers just about a solid three hours of music. All of the musicians involved are world class and the overall sound was superb. The presentation, staging, lights, and the vocals (including a solid lineup of backup singers) were top notch.

If you're a Pink Floyd fan, check them out if you can. You'll be glad you did.

Lots of great tunes but I have to say my favorite of the night was probably "Us and Them".

Funny you mention that one. Of course they tour with backup singers and they are very very good. During some sections they would walk off the stage and at one point after they'd left, the band started in with the slow instrumental that begins "The Great Gig in the Sky". I noticed one of the three singers come back on stage and I poked my friend next to me and said "Here we go!". Just crazy good and I couldn't help but notice all the people around me during the tune looking up at her with their mouths open stunned by the performance.
