Post MY FIRST REAL GIG
Hey all. Im excited that I have a real gig. I have a friend who put together a festival in Kitchner Ontario . Im playing Saturday Sept 16 3:30 -5:30 doing a solo stick gig. ill use my Roli Block I bought to play some ambient music with . Im basically just sitting in a tent with a bunch of painters supplying music. Its low key...Im not headlining or anything but get a chance to play a bunch of tunes live in front of real people. Its like a busking gig. people will just walk by and listen No Pressure.

My set list is close to this

Fragile
Fields of Gold
Kiss From a Rose
True Colours
Time After Time
And She Loves Me
Across The Universe
Here There and everywhere
Here Comes the Sun
Scarbourough Fair
Danny Boy
Lullaby(Goodnight My Angel) by Billy Joel
Maybe sound of Silince
A tune of my own called Angel Of Hope (On my sextet CD)
Ill be improvising some ambient music as well . I get to play a song take a break and do another song. Ill probably end up doing some songs twice.

So far Im not nervous about it. looking forward to just getting out and playing and seeing how it goes. Good or Bad Im looking forward to the experience..

Anyway just thought Id post this as its kind of a milestone for me. Not even two years in and I have a gig. I actually have an official gig In November where Im playing trumpet for most of the gig but stick on a tune or two. That will be nerve wracking. People are paying for that show.LOL

This is the perfect kind of gig to start getting your feet wet with honestly. You're not really background music but at the same time, you're not the focus either. So you have room to see what works for you and what doesn't. I've always really enjoyed these kinds of gigs.

Yey! I so wished I could be there!!!! Those are the best gigs: if you get in the zone and the music flows everyone will come closer. If you get nervous, people will leave you alone having fun by yourself... what could possibly go wrong? Have fun my friend!

Rodrigo and Glenn. I agree with you that this is the perfect gig to take. I kept trying to make sure it was a low key gig. Anyway Im excited about this one. My next gig in November is with this fellow named Rich Brown. Monster player and Im honoured to share the stage with him but Im no where near the same league as him. Good thing I know him as I hung around with him briefly. He s a great guy. Ill try to convert him to stick. Im hoping he will want to give it a try and if he does Ill try to record him. Hes probably played one before. Id love to see him on an NS stick

That's so cool good luck on the experience. I've always had fun on artist openings and music w/ spoken word. It even opened up the opportunity to open my first restaurant. (I was playing music w/ the poet/manager of a poetry bar and we got along so well he let me use their unused kitchen. The food went over so well we pushed the poets out...) This was back in '85 and my FIRST Stick gig! (Ironwood #1212)
