Yeah, that is so true. That level of preparedness does not become so much of an issue when you slow down and take in the moment.
It reminds me of a scene from Mystery Men. There is a character that can become invisible, but no one can be looking at him. I play just fine here in my garage - relaxed, focused and ready to create. As soon as you put other people in the room, it becomes (air quotes) a performance. When I let that go, I am able to slow down and create meaningful music, not just "play" the Stick.
So glad to hear it went well. I expect you got to introduce some people to the instrument who would never have known that you had not recently practiced. Still a win and great to hear man - looking forward to more gig reports, cheers me ol'.
