Post Music Festival Gig Report
Hi Folks.
Well the time came for the inaugral Music Festival in our village by the bay. Lots of acts and DJ's on all over the place. I was given a place in the main street where everyone passes through. I have about a hours worth of stuff if I play every thing I know. Turns out I actually had two hours to fill. a busy transient crowd throughout.
The gear I took is in one of the pics. The Overdrive pedal gets used in a couple of songs, I change settings on the PASV 4 for some and the delay varied on a couple of pieces. Chorus is very light on the Bass side. The Grand had its very first public outing. The lovely girls on Stilts were roving about getting Instagram pics so I had to get in on that & I had a big beach umbrella, it was sunny & 31 degrees C. The umbrella was a lifesaver and tuning/instrument saver.
I went out on a limb and decided to start with a blues improv on the Grand. I enjoy finding a groove and then some solo hooks on the right hand. That worked fine and moving on. The little Roland KC Battery amp is just loud enough in this situation but the Grand has less output than the Alto despite being the same PASV 4, i need to check this out more thoroughly. After a few pieces on the Grand it was on to the Alto , since I'm so used to it and its volume was noticeably better.
The afternoon progressed well lots of people stopping and kindly making "contributions" also to the old green hat. I put up a sign with some basic facts about the Stick also.

into the second hour I repeated a few and did some more improvs around the ii, V, I. Layla got its first public outing also so I'm glad to have cleared that hurdle. It was a great time also to focus on playing with multiple distractions whist looking around at the activity. I should finish Ipanema, a few times that would have been perfect!

So all in all it was another marker post on the Stick Journey, from playing, gear setting up and just taking every thing I need in an organised manner. Much learnt, much fun had, people entertained it appears!

Back to the Pirateship to earn money this week, but the Stick plan rolls on with much to do . The Alto will travel with me again, its just easier to transport with what I do, but I'll miss the Grand I have been really starting to get in to it.
Big Thanks to Steve Adelson whose insights & inspiration have really pushed this along.
Cheers, B

Right on dooder!
Sounds like it was a cool gig and I'm happy it went well for ya. I'm envious of your 31C temps....

Girls on stilts? Who could ask for more? My wife refuses to wear stilts and act out "attack of the 50 foot woman" scenario for me...

Back to the rig soon eh? Gotta pay for those Sticks somehow....

Great post Cap,n,,,..

cheers,
kev

Thanks for the post Captain! Looks like it was a great gig. Those gigs that require you dig down a little deeper in the repertoire are always a soul searching experience, glad to hear it went well.

Instagram pic with pretty ladies is soon to be a classic. Manny, make it so!
