Post RECAP: Free Hands #20 - JIM REILLY
Please use this post to comment on Free Hands Friday #20

Well if you hadn't heard, or guessed by now, our surprise interviewer for Jim Reilly was Emmett Chapman. What better person to do an interview of the one that is writing your own biography. At times I felt more like I was listening in on a private conversation as so many details of the book and other things were talked about between the two of them. When questions were asked they were revealing in their own manner. You gotta check this one out.

The video is in 2 parts due to an issue we had with the Google Hangout. Apologizes to those that wanted to participate but couldn't. At times we had a full house and even when we didn't, some folks had trouble joining. Hopefully the live feed was okay for those that just wanted to watch.

What an amazing back story on Jim. I kept trying to rattle Emmett and get him to spill some dirt on Jim and it just wasn't going to happen. Safe to say the Stick Community has the right man for the job in Jim Reilly, I can hardly wait for the book!

Well Gene, here's a bit of dirt on Jim Reilly!

I was in the jazz program in college with Jim in Nanaimo, BC. During one of our classes, the instructor would write 8 - 16 bars of melody on the board and give us a few minutes to go over it then we would play it as a group. All students were playing stringed instruments and as the instructor was unfamiliar with the fingering required on the Stick to perform the piece Jim would turn down his amp and pretend to play the piece, even on occasion being praised by the instructor on his performance!
