Post Free Hands Friday - Album Challenge
Hi Stick friends, I am starting up some new challenges for 2023 and hope you will tune in to check it out. The first month's challenge is to learn an entire album and then perform it live - I am going with the debut self-titled album by The Cars.

I will be playing with 2 guitarists and a drummer, so I will need to hit a lot of Gregory Hawkes keyboard parts in addition to holding down Rock God Benjamin Orr's super solid bass lines. I had intended to sing Best friend's Girl, but after having reviewed this part, I don't know if I can hit the bass line, the melody side 8th's and sing - where is Olivier when you need him!?!

Thanks as always for your support - hope you are all having a great new year!
Gene :D

Cool! (our band only covered Moving In Stereo, probably the only song on the album that was NOT a hit single). Comments and feedback? MORE FEEDBACK.

Aaaahhhh ... but everyone ended up knowing that tune thanks in no small part to Phoebe Cates.

For guys our age, that is mostly all too true. i'm saving moving for stereo and all mixed for the last session as there is a ton going on in both of those tunes in the melody.

Not quite sure how I am going to approach All Mixed Up - should be interesting to say the least - thanks for checking it out.

Moving In Stereo. The bass is like a jackhammer. Pheobe Cates. Didn't watch the movie 'till many many years later. Please respond with dumb bass player jokes.

There are so many cruel bassist jokes already lol....

Ben Orr was a pretty fantastic bassist, I had no idea I had such a man crush on him - he is such a rock god. Super solid and sang like a bird.

It's an interesting endeavor to play an entire album as I am seeing all the chord changes for the album all at once. Pretty straight ahead rock and roll, so far, the backing vocals have been our biggest challenge.

Cool idea! The Cars were one of my first favorite groups as a kid, and I appreciated them even more later in life. Candy-o is my favorite. Elliot Easton had a knack for brilliant little guitar solos.
