Re: Product Review: DSM Humboldt Simplifier DLX
The Collider is an excellent pedal and has a ton of features.
The Collider, in my opinion, is perhaps the most wonderful integration of delay and reverb in a single unit yet. I have tried the Avalanche Run and the Sky5000, both of which are versatile and sturdy, but the Collider has the Neuro desktop application which allows for a more focused sound design process, that is the cherry on top.
Selling points would have to start with, obviously, the Neuro app, but it also has tap tempo (delay is activated with a long tap) and the reverb can freeze any note by holding down the reverb pedal. It has four onboard presets but more can be created and accessed with an external controller.
It makes excellent use of variables in each sound using the 2 middle control knobs but I often forget what these variables are for each setting. There is a small toggle on the top of the pedal that selects the delay or reverb controls - clever.
It has 5 pin midi thru as well as TRS midi for if it's out of reach on a smaller board.
What else? It can be configured to be a dual delay or a dual reverb, which is pretty cool - HOWEVER - it cannot isolate each input 1 and 2 as separate signal paths. If the intent is to have the bass side go through one channel and the melody go through another, it is NOT able to isolate them. that was my experience anyway Another shining example of how much of Gene's life force would still be available to him if he read the manual.
Boaz, perhaps you'll be able to find a way where I was not able to? PS - don't forget to comment on the YT site too =)
