Thanks so much for these Gene. I teach music full-time and one of the things that is so overlooked in music ed is the "how and what to effectively practice" elephant in the room. Your delivery, enthusiasm, and clarity - both visually and aurally - are both on point and address fundamental questions for which music students of any age will appreciate access to your insight and shared journey. Thanks Eric, I really appreciate it. So much of what I have done in the past is in a conversational context where this is purely interpretation, method and arranging. It's a bit of a new direction as my muscle memory has far and away served me better than my sight reading, which is paltry at best.  I am certain your experience in teaching is welcome here - any advice you have for us Stickists in conveying ideas, concepts or methodologies is greatly appreciated. |

I definitely enjoyed this, thank you! I love that sound, it's like new strings ALL DAY...! So, with my birthday tomorrow and all, I'm really hoping this thread spins out of control into a Harpsichords rule / suck debate.

Hey there Gene. Thanks for the mighty comment. I’m just obsessed with too much practicing. Bach certainly for me requires lots of practice time. Anytime you want to hang and talk about number two I’m there. I had it down almost and then forgot how to play it so I dusted it off last night. It’s gonna take time to get it back like any Bach piece but I’m finding the more Bach you play the faster it is to learn or relearn another Bach piece. There are a lot of similarities in all his work so skills learned in one transfer over nicely to other Bach pieces (and other Stock tunes) There is much to learn and discover with Bach both technique wise and harmonically Oh and happy birthday |
