Free Hands Friday #69 - PEDALBAORDS
Free Hands Friday #69 is all about the boxes! At last, a session we can all enjoy! Let's talk pedals, pedalboards, power supply and cabling for our favorite stompboxes. This topic will extend through the rest of the month. I am hoping to get a special session with Emmett on Friday, January 22 showing off his favorite pedals. This will happen before we do our annual NAMM Jam with Steve Adelson, Jim Meyer, Clare Steger, Japhlet and Emmett. You can be sure there will be some questions on the good ol' Patch of Shades! Please drop a reply here if you would like to be included - cheers!

Patch of Shades... Frickin love that pedal, and the sound that Emmett gleans from it. I've only ever heard that pedal from his fingertips and nowhere else.
Somebody was selling that very pedal on this site for 9 Hundge recently.....sheesh steep. Kinda a phaser and flanger with pixie dust all in in one stomper... juicy.
cheers, kev

Great topic, especially for us newbies who still have no idea how the different pedals affect the sound. I'll be watching the re-runs for sure

cheers, kev 900 is about right for one that works. When Steve Osburn let me try his I searched the Internet and found a couple of people out there that were guitar players that had one of these and they also payed that much. If you are looking for that type of effect look for something with a direct out and effect out outputs. Use a volume pedal on the effect. Also noticed there's some other 2- axis volume/control pedals out there that I'm thinking might get closer to Patches by connecting it between a couple of effects pedals.

Re: Free Hands Friday #69 - PEDALBAORDS
Tried one for a while years ago. Ron Baggerman lent me his one. This stompbox is amazing but I found two cons leading me to not purchase it : 1. it's bulky 2. bypass is not good (to my ears) I would love to purchase a new updated version of that box, because the idea is very innovative and yet undone by any manufacturer. Anyone ready for a pledge campaign?

Re: Free Hands Friday #69 - PEDALBAORDS
I had a really beaten-up POS several years ago. It functioned perfectly. I agree with Grozoeil's assessment, and will add that, although it is sure to make some stick guy with disposable income very happy, the effect is such a novelty it isn't worth that sort of money. This observation likely played at least some part in its discontinuation.
I attempted to give it away to a few members here. I ended up giving it to an old friend in Va Beach. I believe he still has it.

I would have a very hard time justifying 9 hundge on a stomper, just saying......even if I had money to burn.
cheers, k
