I'd like to give it a try

any beta on the setup procedure?
Did you find any difficulty with different string tension? is stock strigset OK?

I figure intonation will need tweaking.

any gotchas along the way?

Not just intonation. String height at the bridge depending on whether the new string is as stepped as the old one was., and also at the nut depending on how low the string sits in the channel on the flaps. I suggest you take photos of these before you remove the strings so that you can have a reference, and log the changes you make very specifically.

thanks - Is there a different suggested set of string gauges?

I was considering reseting the tuning with the strings that are in situ if the gauges are compatible (I remember one video where you spoke of a fairly wide tuning range du to the low tension and I don't see a 4ths specific stringset on SE)

yeah, I've learned hard lessons disassembling other technical gear to record the disassembly procedure (on the plus side, every time I do I gt the bonus of left over components. I figure if I disassemble my toughbook 10 times, I'll have an extra toughbook)

oh and thanks for, well, I know it's sometimes seem as a contentious issue

What Greg said, good info. I actually used the existing strings I had on my Stick, and just tuned and tweaked (I think they were intended for classic tuning?) But yeah, I just put on my M4 stings and HO-LEE crap was it ever most excellent to play, tonally and physically. So yeah, get the strings hahaha

It's a 10 string railboard. I basically wanted to give the tuning a try before making the jump to dedicated 4ths and a 12 string instrument

I am in the camp of changing strings when changing tunings.

Like you I am interested in the Mirrored 4ths tuning. Been waiting for new strings for over a week now, like a kid waiting for Christmas!

Im hoping I get to spend the weekend getting the new tuning set up on my Stick!
