This woman learnt violin in 2 years. The video shows her progress, every week from the start. I am encouraged to think it's possible to become competent on the Stick in 2 years?

This is a great example of how learning works. She owns her learning journey and immerses herself in the instrument. She plays stuff she likes by watching and copying, and develops her own learning techniques. Learning by ear, first! Great stuff:

I like the idea of learners showing learners. Hope this is interesting to others.

(apologies if this has been posted before)

Thank you so much for sharing! Maybe I can do this in about two years from now, since I am recording weekly.

This is a good video and a great way to use youtube as a supplemental learning tool in addition to a solid practice / performance routine, a qualified instructor and the occasional seminar / event.

She mentions that she had a teacher for about her first 8 lessons and then moved to teaching herself. More recently, she has signed up with a teacher again - so while it's ideal to have lessons on a weekly (or every other week) basis, sometimes there are stretches without one.

Thanks for sharing this video - very inspirational.

It's a neat video; definitely shows the evolution of a student, eh? She did a great job on the video and her playing really improved over time.
