Bruce Gary brot him over to see The Stick and have a hands-on session. Bruce (Gary) and I were playing lots of "power duos" at clubs and colleges around L.A. (Yuta got us lots of gigs). He later joined Doug Feiger's "The Knack" to record some top hit albums with them and follow up with world tours.
Love the reflections on what was actually going on in the photo. As players of the instrument, we all like to think that what followed the photo was the enlightening of Jack Bruce as he went home and practiced the Stick for hours. Regardless, it is still a little piece of history right there in black and white.

Side note ... you mentioned "The Knack". Southeast Michigan is probably the only place where Doug Feiger's brother is more well known than he was. They both grew up here and Doug's brother is a prominent attorney. Unfortunately he is generally considered a bit of a shyster. His claim to fame is that he was the attorney that represented Jack Kevorkian.

I listened a lot to Cream's records in the late sixties (mostly Disraeli Gears) but it wasn't until I bought Escalator Over the Hill in 1976 that I became aware of how incredibly cool Jack Bruce played electric bass.

Weird. I made that last post this morning from work. After work I stopped in the market on the way home and when I walked in "My Sharona" was playing on the PA system. :o

Eric Clapton wrote a sweet, sad song for his Cream friend and posted it on his Facebook page here:
