I hope I'm not old enough to be an elder! I'm only 47, I'm not OLD.

You seem to be a youthful man, younger than your 47 years, but an old soul, capable of love, art, and strength, well beyond your years.

I just updated the main link at the top of this topic (page 1) with a better rez of the video. Might be old to some now, but I get goosebumps every time I watch it.

Yep, quite a musical journey on this. I'm guessing, but I'm probably not the only one to guess, that this is right in the vein of the kind of improvisational artistry that Emmett envisioned when this instrument was born.

Absolutely, Luc. Emmett invented it to play. Pure and simple. He was not a big fan of recording, which was always a frustration to me, having grown up heavily influenced by recording artists, like The Beatles, I wanted him to make more records. !!! Damn it!!

His music heroes were the masters of improv, like Coltrane.

"I'd been a very ambitious jazz guitarist, but I wanted to play more like jazz piano players like Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner... then I heard Jimi Hendrix." - EC

Emmett's music and vocabulary of improv is in a strata all his own. That said, as a player, Greg reminds me more of Emmett than anyone, especially on BIG BANG.

Well...

since you asked...

The sound company that was hired to do this concert was not ept, if you know what I mean. Though to be fair getting 10 Stick players and their rigs all set to go is a challenge, they showed up late and couldn't get their system working.

So... I had to jump in and get everyone hooked up and get the show going.

It was an old theater and there was lots of buzzing and humming to deal with as well...

All this when I was going to be performing on what was, to me, my first public gig with my new super Stick, (long-scale, Rails, hybrid pickup).

By the time I got to go up on-stage I was quite flustered, so all the agita of the moment coupled with the excitement of this new Stick all came out in my piece.

Needless to say, I had no time to adjust my appearance, nor had I had a haircut for almost a year...so not the best aesthetics on that front...

At one moment early on in the performance Emmett jumped up on stage and turned the snare off on the drums, thereby saving me from that one distraction at least...

I recall Dan telling it with more colorful language. I think you channeled that emotion into something pretty special. Good job!
