Post Re: Emmett interview for Stick Camp
Thank you for doing this, Dan! As I'm out in Stockholm city almost daily now with my SG-12 I come to speak a lot about the instrument and about Emmett to all kinds of music loving people. Yesterday I talked with a young guitar builder from Gdansk in Poland, he came by when I was to pack down my gear, to have an espresso break at a nearby café, but since he recognized the Wenge material by the first look I switched and plugged in again. The same day a bypassing Columbian film producer shot about an hour of my playing for a Swedish documentary. She also asked me to talk a bit about the instrument. All these kinds of strange things happen as I play the Stick in public and it makes me think about Emmett every day, so watching your rough cut, Dan, felt to me a bit like catching up :-)

You're welcome, Per. Thanks especially for sharing your feelings. What you wrote reminds me again why I made this interview. To touch you and others in this world community. Emmett spends so much of his time in the shop, I thought it would be a good idea to give folks who can't make it to Stick Enterprises a personal sense of him.

When there's no response, I often feel like my idea was fruitless. I'm sure it's the same that many musicians feel when playing for an unresponsive audience. Yet, performing music is a very different art form. The applause are immediate and reinforcing. There's nothing like playing live and getting the applause. With art, film, editing, and other art forms, unless there is a group screening of your work, like at Stick Camp or Free Hands Academy, you work on faith, often in a vacuum, hoping your message in a bottle will reach it's destination.

Consider your bobbing bottle having reached many shores and discovered by many people Dan. Great work, thank you from my personal beachhead.
