Emmett was kind enough to make me a custom set for my Alto. It's sort of a light bass/medium melody set that is just perfect for what I do. My SG12 will have light guage strings. I'll give that a try and tweak it if need be.

I got my Grand with the heavy gauge set in it but I ordered medium gauge at SE, though I haven't changed them yet. Do you guys think it'll greatly affect my tone since I'm playing more of the bass lines for my band? There's quite a big difference in terms of the size of the 2 lowest strings.

Recently got a bunch of a 12-string medium strings.
When I got my stick I had absolutely no idea what kind of strings Ihave there, besides, they were REALLY (almost 5(!!!) years) worn.
So, I decided to pick a medium gauge to order just to have something in the middle and to come with what I really want then.

My final word - heavy ones are the best, despite my thick and short fingers.
And i can't even imagine how do you play light gauge, therefore you can fit several galaxies there even on a grand stick.
