Song Of the Month Poll for March
Thanks to all who put forward Mad World submissions and still have submissions to submit. lol They were all really awesome and different. Thats what I like to see...all your various interpretations. Anyone wishing to post their versions in the future please do so. The deadlines are just so we can move on and try something else. If you cant do a complete song do a section or a few bars and soon you will be able to do a full song. If you are thinking about doing a song just do it. Its fun and a great way to build your stick skills. Anything that gets a vote gets automatically added to the next months' poll. Most votes determines the song to learn for March.
Poll is open for 4 days. You each get 1 vote. You can change your mind as many times as you like (which may happen in the event of a tie)

Re: Song Of the Month Poll for March
Hi Rob End of month. Tried another take of Mad World tonight since I promised myself to " have a crack " as we say down-under and put forward something by end of Feb. I at least have a concept now , takes got progressively worse ( red light fever?) so here's the first. Will road test it at some open mics in a week, once I get off this ship. Can assemble it properly at home with more time and focus. Idea is to change right hand around and add vocals. I quite like experimenting then over the Em/A part. I think it will be OK in the long run and go well with some percussion. Thanks for the Challenge!

I love the groove you got going there Bruce. And The alto sounds great. Im so glad my SG 12 is coming in 2 days. fingers crossed. Thanks for your version. I tried mine out at an open mic on Sunday. It didnt go so well but I didnt run it thru a bit before the gig so I had a brain fart and things did nt go as expected. lol

Damn Bruce, that's smooth as hell!
Unfortunately I likely won't be able to participate this month but I did hear a metal cover of Careless Whisper the other night and would love to hear how this community tackles that tune.
In terms of participating, does it count if I learn just snippets or do I have to do the whole song? If I can sneak in snippets here and there then I can probably scrounge together the extra time to join in, this game is so much fun looking from the outside in!

Re: Song Of the Month Poll for March
Snippets work. I want people to contribute as much as they can or are able. Learning songs takes time and everyone tackles songs differently and learn tunes faster or slower. I’m convinced if one keeps trying things will get easier and faster. Also life gets in the way so one month may not be enough time

Re: Song Of the Month Poll for March
The toughest part for me is between all my other commitments, it's hard to justify taking time not to work on those instead.

Re: Song Of the Month Poll for March
I enjoyed this version Bruce. I love that you made it your own. Good job.
These past few months have been extremely busy on lab, I barely have time to hunker down and play. Regardless of which song we go with for March, I will be back to learn February's song of the month. Such a goodie.
Thanks again for doing this Rob. A great way to learn, share and lead - all at the same time!

Thanks Gene. Looking forward to hearing Your version of Mad World. This is a lot of fun hearing other people learn the same tune but put their own voice and influences into the mix to come up with a their version of the same tune.
I love the polls here because Im learning tunes I may never have considered trying on the stick.
