Greetings from Portland, OR!
Hi "Stickistas"!
I'm Marcelo from Portland (Oregon), and I'm originally from Argentina. Back in 1999, while attending university in Argentina, a friend of mine invited me to a concert of some guy playing this weird new instrument on a small venue (no more than 50 people). As a guitarist, I was intrigued and felt compelled to go and see what all the fuzz was about. In the end, weren't all string instruments already invented? What was there to see? I had to find out...
And what I saw had a long lasting impact in my life... What was this new instrument that seemed to defy logic? Who was this guy that kept taping strings and looping tracks one on top of the other? Why did I feel so moved by this completely new sound? I was slightly mad at myself for not having come across this instrument before.
The instrument was, of course, the Chapman Stick (a 12-string if my memory serves me well)... and the "guy" playing it was Guillermo Cides.
I've been playing guitar for the past 25 years, and I've decided recently that it was time to move on and take on a new instrument... I've ordered a Railboard today (influenced by Kevin Keith and Robstafarian), and can't wait to start tapping!

Hi Marcelo, great to see you here!
I'm pretty close by up in SW Washington. I don't know if you've had opportunity to try out a Stick or not...whatever the answer, PM me sometime if you want to get together and make some noise.
