Welcome, Mark. If you "don't have any history with guitar playing " that's a good background for learning the Stick. Guitar technique may get in your way since your hands tend to synchronise their moves, as we do on the guitar, while the Stick needs you to do the opposite; free your hands to do different but complementary moves. I'm afraid the same goes for trumpet skills but it's good to know music though, like what notes you want to play to produce certain melodies or chords you have in mind. Hook up with some of the guys that teach for a lesson or two!

Thanks all for the help! I will definitely be ordering those strings and start with purchasing those books! Glad to feel so welcome to this community! I definitely will be hanging around here and see what resources are available and hope to contribute when I become good enough.

Harpo here in Aubrey, TX. Been off the site for awhile and am back again. Use to live in San Antonio while working and now retired. While there I met the Heartstrings and was sold on the music and the stick. Alto Stick is what I have and now play. I sold my first one which was a 12 string MR. If ur out there Heartstrings, hope U read this.
