Hi stick ppl
Just a quick introduction of myself.

Bought a polycarbonate 10 string in February and have been lurking the forum ever since.

Long time bass player etc but... This stick has blown my mind!

Here's a youtube link to some playing....

Just noodling and getting carried away with myself ;-)

Best
Dave

Hi hi
Yep I'm a scouser

I married a weegie (Glaswegian) though, so now I live north of the border... Stick and bagpipes is fun lol

Welcome, Dave: there is no need to go back to lurking (which is reading without posting, in case anyone is unaware).

Welcome to this forum Dave,

I can hear the experienced musician behind this first attempt on the stick. I like the spirit of what you've played. So...the engine started the train...you'll have to come back to present more...lol...congrats.

Well put kataway.... Full steam ahead!

I play lots of bass... I tune my guitar in all fourths too and I play lots of mandolin

So the patterns on either side were familiar to me

Ive spent a large portion of my time on the stick playing on the inner parts of the instrument... They feel joined up now.

Now I'm trying to push further out from the center ... Then maybe I can try some of this "free hands " business I see talked about so much.

As it is my hands still feel locked together , like one can't play without the others help.... Even just finding tonal centers... If that makes any sense.

I'm not hugely keen on the tone of the melody side at its higher extremities so I'm working on technique up at that altitude to try and help pull my hands apart a little more.

No doubt everything I'm experiencing has already been done to death here already though :-)

Hey Dave,
Welcome aboard! You're clearly off to a great start with the Stick, keep it up! If you're looking for learning materials to help further your journey, there's always the books available on Stick.com, and the various instructional videos on Youtube, including my own Stick Science series.

Also there are a number of players that are experienced in teaching the Stick as well, so if the thought of private lessons appeals to you, I encourage you to ask around!

Anyway, be sure to keep updating us on your progress, we're all really supportive around here.

Cheers!
