Post New player from Canada
Hi everyone, my name is Jordie and I'm a new stickist from Canada (Toronto area). I just got an email from Cambria today saying my stick is ready to ship out, so I'm looking forward to it of course. I went for a 12-string Tarara Grand with green linear inlays and PASV-4 pickup. I just wanted to introduce myself and see if there's any other players around me. I've been browsing the forum for the last couple of months but only joined now that my stick is on the way. It seems to be a great community and even though I have never even seen a stick in person, based on all I've read , I know it will exceed my expectations. It's nice to have such a great forum where we can all gather.

I really hope you'll find other players in Toronto. I finally found one here in Montreal. I'm almost sure there are more but they don't play in public I guess. Welcome to this interesting forum. It's alive...

Welcome Jordie and gongrats on getting (almost) Sticked!
I was in the same boat as you a couple of months ago, no Stickists near me and never seen a Stick in real life....your gonna have a blast.
If you can't find anyone near you, I can heartily recommend that you take some Skype lessons as soon as you are able to, they really give you a boost on the learning curve.

Don't forget to take pics of the arrival and unpacking if you can.

Eric

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I'll certainly take some pictures once it gets here. Tracking number says it'll arrive tomorrow so I'll post them up then. Kevin, great to see someone close by playing the Stick, I'd definitely be willing to get together once I get a certain level of comfort going with the instrument. I hope my classical guitar playing helps me out haha. I actually know someone who lives in Brantford so I'm somewhat familiar with the area.

I met Paul Stillwell at a Stick seminar in the Vancouver area. He's in Toronto and plays stick with the Canadian Electronic Ensemble. Nice guy.

A looooong time ago, as a grad student at U of T I used to go see a band called "Big Faith" at any number of clubs in Toronto. Fergus Marsh played Stick with them. I don't know what he is up to now, but maybe....

Enjoy your new obsession...
