Post new stickist from ohio
:o well all i can say is i'm happy to have finally recieved my ten string tarrara stick #5627 now in matched recip tuning which i adore! I am looking forward to meeting more people in the stick community! my first contact in the stick world was steve osborne. a very cool dedicated stick player who has quite a great reputaion for teaching in ann arbor michigan. i used to be a bass player, well i still am but i am in the process of sticking so it will be my main instrument of choice so i call myself a stickist now. i have been playing bass since 1980 tho. so far i have been just focusing on learning one key. it really is amazing how quickly the independance comes with both hands and an understanding of the harmonic interactions of chords in a key its so much easier to navigate now, even 5ths tuning on the bass side is getting easier, seems like i just get good on each side then bring it together. Dedication and diligence and a good attitude are key. the instrument will really bring out the music in you. just give it time (btw this is the second stick ive owned) so im not a total newbie. the stick is the only instrument ive ever owned that makes me want to practice, ya just never know what the next breakthrough will be whether discovering a new inversion of a chord or a new way of putting 2 or 3 chords together or maybe a new lick to learn in every position, my wife is getting a little snippy with me for practicing so much ,but she does support me ,which is nice. looking forward ,once again to meeting all of you in the stick community special shout out to Josh Goldberg ,and andy salvano , also jason brock one of my favorite stick players!

My favorite wood "Tarara",
The next tuning I want to try "Matched Recip",
I too >> love exploring on the Stick

Welcome MegaTapper

That's probably been the best seminar I've been to. Australia's a fantastic country.

Forgot to mention - I'm there every Thursday for group guitar lessons with one of Steve's instructors from 7:30PM+, so on those Thursdays you can get there early, just come in, we are in the large room next to the store. It's usually the same three people including myself.

HI GENE thanks for replying, i will try to figure it out i might even try to put a pic of it out tonight it is a really beautiful instrument (this piece of tarrara almost looks like a cross between oak and mahogony in the color ,although it does now ,after a month or so ,appear to be ambering a little. i like that last video that you did in dedication to your wife.very nice arrangement ,i also really dug that peter gabriel one that you did a couple weeks back. ok i really like all of them but especially those. I can tell you that im glad that i got the stickup. the attack is amazing the bass really growls and the midrange on the melody side has a nice little but of humm to it which i really like but absolutely no nasalness which i also like. I know people say that there is no discernable difference in tone because of the low tension of the strings but the tararra seems to be the perfect wood for the stickup. very even and balanced, nice harmonic clusters as well .
