Post Hello, Thank You, and Happy to Be Here
Hello from Wekiwa Springs, Florida, U.S.

My name is Ed, and I have been playing guitar for about 45 years, bass guitar for over 30 years, and Chapman Stick on and off about the same. When I say on and off, it's mostly off. In other words, I do not consider myself adept at playing The Stick, and I still have a lot of learning and practice to do. I do, however, find it relatively easy to jam with friends, come up with interesting parts, and just have a ton of fun with the instrument.

I found my current instrument, a standard 10-string Stick, for sale in the local classified paper in 1988, and immediately plunked down $300 for it. I am so glad I did, and I cannot imagine ever parting with it.

I am attaching some shots of my Stick after I performed a thorough cleaning and string change. I'm looking forward to learning more about all of you and exploring & rediscovering the instrument again and again!

Welcome to the Forum.

I spent some time in your neck of the woods back in 2008.
We went to Daytona Bike week, Hang gliding at Wallaby Ranch,
did most of the tourist things and watched Endeavor takeoff
in the early morning with low cloud cover. Photo attached.

Hey, thanks for your reply and for the tip about Wallaby Ranch. I didn't know that place existed, and I've been wanting to try hang-gliding for a long time. :)
There's a skydiving place in Deland, but I've never tried it; just watched 'em coming down. LOL

I did see a night launch of one of the shuttles at the cape, but it was back in the early 90s, and I can't recall which orbiter it was. Always reminds me of the Rush song, "Countdown." :-D

I need to visit Canada one of these days, but I think I'll wait at least until winter is over. hehehe

Wouldn't you rather be involved in a series of colorful time-wasting trends? Mine is #1212 and was on and off 'till a profound revelation in '08 and my Blondie Bamboo 12-string DBR. Still a hacker though. Nice rack.

Very cool. Thank you!
What happened in '08? Did you get struck by lightning or something? ;)
I'll have to look for photos of your bamboo Stick, if you have any.
Take care!

Almost. I got sober. There's a photo of me and Blondie on fb - Martin Pirint. Not very good w/ technology so few photos & no music. (not yet) But I follow a lot of Stickists on fb.
Oh, I wonder what FZ would say about fb and "colorful time-wasting trends"...

FZ might have said that Facebook will die, but air hockey will come back every now and then. LOL Your comment was lost on me the first time 'round.
Anyway, I did see some pics of your bamboo Stick. Very nice!
