Post Finally I grown up to a Stick.
Hello.
Since I've been registered for almost 8 years and I am an owner of a 10st Stick s/n 1143 for almost 7. I finally came up to say: Hello.
Years ago, when I bought my beauty this was an young-man's thought to impress everybody around by just "having" it
After those years when it was standing in the corner or being kept in case I've left a nedd to finally play this instrument (at least try to do so).

So, hello and thank you.

Welcome, samooray, although you probably know this place better than most of us! People use pianos as decoration all the time, and instruments are pretty and the Stick is cool looking. No shame in that, but how awesome you're going to start playing it! Maybe Skype lessons with some of the teachers around here?

Best of luck! Powodzenia!

Awesome! I look forward to seeing/hearing a clip! Cool!

If it makes you feel any better I've owned 3 sticks (Of which I still have 2) and I have accomplished almost nothing with any of them over the last 3 years, despite spending all kinds of time playing and practicing. :D I love 'em, though... Nothing else like a Stick...

Sweet man, do you play any other instruments? Be sure to keep us all updated on your progress.

Yes, for about 10 years I am a bass player (with my beauty- Alembic Epic 5).
I'll post something, if there is something to show/hear. As for now it is like walking in a fog with glimpses of light through tree branches [WINKING FACE]
But I am really happy about this, there is a LOT to explore on Stick.

I had to put all my other instruments away to focus on the Stick (for awhile) it was just too easy to fall back on an instrument I could actually play...

Hey Samooray, I got my stick last Monday 13th Feb...

and I know what you mean :)

I think, as people have mentioned here, an online lesson or two would be very useful... For the time being, I'm enjoying 'noodling' about on it (I'm a keyboard player, so fretted instruments are 'alien' to me :?) and getting used to the feel of the stick.

I get to Gdansk twice a year or so, lovely city...

do widzenia :)

That's a beautiful way to describe being new on the Stick. Your long history on the bass should help a lot, but if i may make a suggestion, don't look at it as a different kind of bass. The bassist mindset and bass techniques are applicable but in subtle and different ways, and are not, in my opinion, the best way to approach the Stick at first.
