Hi All,
I have my new Railboard on the way so I thought I would take a step into the pool. I first saw a stick back in 91 while watching a band in Austin, TX. I have wanted to own one since then.

I am very excited to be starting a new music adventure. I have been a working bass player (still have my early Steinberger) a tuba player and mostly a teacher. I am hoping that my keyboarding and theory background will assist in my learning, but I expect a steep initial learning curve.

I've enjoyed lurking around this friendly and rich site, and have already learned a lot from you all. Looking forward to some future conversations.

Any Stick players on this site in western Colorado?

Cheers---Bing

Hey Bing, welcome! This site is a great community and resource for all things Stick related. There's also a growing number of teaching materials floating around the internet, and plenty of experienced players out there excited to help out with any questions you might have!

Welcome, Bing! Congratulations on the new Railboard on the way! You'll have to share pics of it when you get it!

Welcome to the first step on a journey of a thousand miles! Lots of good teachers around here if you really want to level up quickly.

I was just in Aurora for a couple of weeks for work and some of my team of tech writers have been out there for months working on some boats. I get to make occasional trips out there and I'm originally from Kansas, so I know all about your awesome state next door. Too bad that Colorado never got a professional football team! (I'm still a Chiefs fan, even though I've been in Detroit area for 13 years! What am I gonna do? Follow the Lions?)

Welcome!

That's either a pretty big slam on the Broncos, or a bit of a mental slip during typing...

Hey welcome Bing!
David Tipton is in Salida......not sure how close that is to you. He's a great player and prolly one of the busiest Stickists out there in terms of gigs. He may give lessons but I'm not sure.

Congrats on joining the Enlightened. Don't know the terrain of the Colorado you're western in, but if you're near snow, and you say to someone, "Hey, I have a Railboard!", they may try to take it down a hill...

Thanks for the welcome all! My Railboard is supposed to arrive Tuesday. I'll put up some pictures. I look forward to digging into all the resources available. I might try some Skype lessons. Salida is not close, but we are used to driving around here. Thanks for the name, I will check him out.

The snow has been great. I am in Grand Junction at lower elevation so we have been getting inches, but it is only 30 minutes away to several feet.

I am still a Bronco fan (born that way), I couldn't remember if the Chefs ever won a super bowl so I looked it up. Good for you guys--you got one about 5 decades ago :ugeek:

I can't wait to make my first sounds (whatever they might be).
Cheers--Bing

:o That's the spirit, Bing! I like you! Even if you have bad taste in football! :D

I'm not even a sports guy--I like the rivalries more than the actual sports. Kansas loves to have little inferiority complexes with our surrounding neighbors: above us is Nebraska (vastly superior college football team), Colorado to the left (and way coolest neighbor), Misery--excuse me, Missouri to the right, and then I forget which state separates us from Texas (Oklahoma), but they are the only thing that Texas and Kansas can ever agree suck more than either of the two of us. Well, two cool states and two not so cool.

Anyhoo, as a Michigan boy now, I have to be told about the horrible Ohioans to the south, and the nice Canadians to the South (Windsor), and then have a preference when Michigan State and Michigan U meet each other. It's not like that rivalry even matters, unlike the Kansas State and KU rivalries, which are much more crucial to my self identity (I went to both, actually, but graduated from K-State a couple of times).

Nice to meet you and good luck with that Railboard!

Thanks again Steve for the warm welcome. I am not a big sports guy either but it can be fun to talk smack. Your welcome, by the way, for the last regular game of the season. Since you are now in Michigan you can also take some shots (sitting duck) at my Alma mater NU.
