Post subject:  Hello from a new Railboarder!

Hi everyone,

Introducing myself as a new Railboard player.

I received my beautiful black Railboard with aqua glow linear inlays and black open tuners last week.

For a very long time I've been eyeing the Chapman Stick and when the Railboard was announced, I thought it was time to jump on board. It took a while to feel ready to jump on another new musical instrument adventure but a few months ago I finally went for it and ordered a new Railboard.

I've been studying the Eigenharp and the LinnStrument for a few years, and have been playing steel string guitar for most of my life.

The Railboard sort of feels like the perfect combination of all these instruments combined, it feels much more welcoming than I thought it would be and I really love the feel and expressive capabilities of the instrument.

I intend to regularly document my progress on my YouTube channel in a dedicated playlist:

Here is a video after the first week of practicing:

Thanks Jayesskerr! :-)

I was indeed pleasantly surprised to see that quite some of my muscle memory translates well to the stick. It got me out of the "completely confused" state into "I love this instrument" state in a few days. It's a very long road ahead, but I'm happy to see it being one of millions of small little improvements that might not feel too tedious :-)

Welcome, Geert, to the Forum and to the Stick and to your Railboard. It's good to see that a lot of your muscle memory and music theory will translate over. Best of luck on your journey and you've made a very excellent start! Can't wait to see your progress along the way!

I remember when I got mine years ago (sadly I no longer have it) - but I just took to it right away. The ergonomic design of upright playing and the incredible form factor of the instrument (thin, light, very low action, low tensions strings) - just enabled me to play stuff right off the bat that I assumed would take me years to learn...enjoy man!

Hi, congratulations on the new railboard. It's a journey filled with amazing discoveries and much reward. Sorry to hear about your preamps. I never had any problem with mine, and I plugg it in to all kinds of devices... maybe the issue is with the preamps themselves?
Either way, welcome to the family ;)
Cheers
Rodrigo
