Post Hello, Stick World
Hi there,

Since yesterday I'm the proud owner of this 1989 10 strings polycarbonate Stick.

King Crimson fan and guitar/bass player, I've been curious about the Stick since years, but i always considered owning one a vague dream.

Until I saw the add. There was one in my city. Affordable, good looking and quite "playable".

So here i am, one this well known path of learning a new instrument. Though im quite amazed by the amount of ressources here and on the internet.

Feel free to ask me anything.

Congrats, Karim! That's awesome to hear! Best of luck learning, and the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step: getting a (walking) Stick!

Welcome, have you met Olivier yet? I recall that he may be out your way. These first few weeks are the best, enjoy. :D

Welcome! There's a growing wealth of information on the Stick, including this website!

How did you first find out about it?

I needed some advices before buying my stick.
Not easy to buy used instrument especially when you know nothing about.

I think the first time i saw it was years ago in the hands Tony Levin.
Then a guy in the streets of London.
Then i forgot about it until a couple of months ago when i saw videos on YouTube from this guy in Switzerland, Jan Laurenz.
At the same time as an incredible coincidence an add appeared about a stick in my town.
I took it as a sign.

Serendipitous!

Well, welcome to the community. People here are incredibly kind and helpful. Any question you ask will likely be answered thoroughly by multiple people with a great depth of knowledge.

There are also plenty of resources to learn from, including videos on Youtube from Greg Howard, Bob Culbertson and myself, great books and DVDs from guys like Greg, Bob and Steve Adelson, and weekly Google Hangouts and yearly workshops around this country and a few others, all based around the Stick.

Keep us posted on your progress!
