Post Hey from Maryland, USA
Hey guys!

Although I've come across the site in searches and lurked here, I decided to sign up today. I've had my Stick for a while now, a 10 string Polycarbonate (#1917). My original interest in the Stick is owed to Toshiaki Kanamaru (watched him on Youtube and once upon a time on MySpace) and Eliah Levy, the latter which I've seen perform live in Santa Monica. I generally like most styles of music, but I'm attracted to the funkier side of the Stick and impressed by some of the wild basslines I've heard people thrown down with it. The prog-rock angle also appeals to me, but I don't want to shoehorn the instrument into any particular genre by saying so.

My other musical interests revolve around playing with synthesizers of any kind, I find a lot of enjoyment in the discovery of creating your own sounds. I get a lot of mileage from ipad apps to this end. I also used to play an Alto Sax a very long time ago, so I'd like to try an EWI or similar one of these days to see if I gel with it. Honestly I love messing around with just about any kind of new (or old!) instrument, so thankfully the prices on most of these things keep my G.A.S. in check.

That said, I'm just a hobbyist for now and I just want to play for my own enjoyment. For as long as I've had the Stick I haven't quite cracked it yet, but I'm trying to dedicate more time to it now. Hope to pick up some tips/gear recommendations and discover new players here. Good to meet you!

Glad you're on board. The Stick is a great springboard for discovery. (Great funky bass sounds to boot(sy)).
