Greetings and Salivations from Seattle!! Recently, I have dug deep into listening to GH's AZUL, and the record is just stunning in just about every aspect.
1. The improvisational prowess of the trio is just amazing… listening… following… groove… creating…
2. Check out some of Greg's Bass work and bass tones… He really utilizes interesting bass tones that you do not hear often on the Stick…. processing and fingering technique…
3. How is plays with the meter and his rhythmic chops…. when you listen down beneath what is going on "up front", you can really catch some tasty morsels of how Greg plays with the meter and his use of muting and chords to play off of that insane drummer!!
4. His tasty use of effects…. his natural tone, delicious!!
5.He really demonstrates a nice understanding of harmony and melody.
6.The sonic imprint of the record itself is tight with nice headroom. I do not think Greg tracked the record, however he did mix it.
5 stars… Great performance. CHeck it out!!
