 different belt making a difference

I started with a very wide weight lifting belt, about 8 inches wide. It worked well at keeping the stick solidly fixed, but it irritated my back, surprisingly. I ended up buying a cheap nylon tool belt with quick-connect plastic snap-type clip latch that has turned out to be more confortable than the weight belt. Perhaps a narrower weight belt would have worked better. Say, a 3 inch wide belt.
