In the past, I have seen the occasional Stick player using a weight lifter's belt for holding their Stick in place. For some reason, I remembered that this morning while at the everything store and I thought I would buy one and try it. Wow! what a difference in comfort. I used to use kind of an old army belt( I think the boy scouts use them too) or a soft leather belt. I would wear this over or under my shirt to support the Stick only.(in other words, not double duty of holding my pants up too) After a while it would end up digging into my skin and leaving a mark that would stay there for hours after. Very uncomfortable. Anyway, I now am enjoying the Golds Gym belt much better. I had to adjust the belt hook on the Stick to lower it a little. It seems to hold the stick at a more comfortable angle and it feels almost as sturdy(or immovable) as if the Stick were on a Stand or "lap board". I don't know who else uses one of these belts, but I would certainly recomend trying one if you are at all uncomfortable with what you are now using, or are just in the market for a new belt. And they are sturdy enough to hang other gadgets on, like Batman's utility belt. BANG! POW! THWOP! Mike |

Nice! Now how about STICK-branded gym belts from S.E? |

The new SE dual vertical belt (pat. pend.) suspends your pants against the forces of gravity. For an extra five bucks we'll include a horizontal sling for the belt hook and membership into the Lederhosen Band fan club. All rights reversed, Emmett. |

Some tool belts are really wide and with good padding, so they will do the trick too. I'm currently playing with a slider strap and found it very comfortable too. Cheers, Daniel. |

I just watched the Kevin Keith video on SE's web site, on the ACTV-2 pickup's page. Looks like he's wearing either a weightlifting belt or a tool belt of some kind. I think I'm gonna have to check out some tool belts at the hardware store. Hopefully they come in black. If I ever have to play a Stick gig in a tux, at least a tool or weight belt might almost look like a cumberbund. |

I concur! I used to use a regular belt, then got a cheap nylon toolbelt for more adjustability. They both would sag a bit with the weight of the Stick (and I have a bamboo Stick!) and would eventually cause some discomfort in my back. I had one of those elastic back braces lying around, so I decided to try using that, and it's definitely more comfortable and the Stick positioning stays solid. I eventually want to get a leather weight-lifting belt for aesthetics, but the principal is the same. |
