Stick on a cello spike?
Eureka! you guys had just been very helpful with suggestions for a waist band to support my Stick, and I had also been looking at stand possibilities. But then I opened my cello case just to see how the old chap was doing. It came to me immediately - what I need is a cello spike. That would put all the weight on the floor where God meant it to be, and the shoulder strap would sort out the 'angle of hang' and stop it spinning on the spike. On cello, a good quality carbon spike also seems to make the sound clearer and more defined, must be something to do with the connection to the floor.
Has anyone tried this, and if so how well does it work?

Re: Stick on a cello spike?
I know I remember seeing a video with someone playing standing with a 3' spike. I think it was mentioned in this forum...somewhere.

Re: Stick on a cello spike?
I was just at Walmart and I noticed a Shooter's Rest in the sporting goods section. It was only $10 and adjustable for height. Looked like a good candidate for testing the concept of a cello spike without paying a lot of money for a carbon fiber spike.

An extra gold star for converting something intended to be part of a death tool into something that would be part of a life tool
