Post Gettng a Stick to fit you
I got a Stick - classic tuning 10 string 34" scale. Now I have to get it to fit me. I am 6'0" tall with legs 2" shorter than average, so I sit the same height as a 6'2" guy, with broad shoulders. I've ordered a strap extension from the workshop, and now I'm thinking about the belt hook. When I put my Stick on (34" scale 10 string) the 0 fret is level with the bottom of my mouth - when I look at pictures of Stick players, that 0 fret is very often level with the bottom of their ear. I believe my belt hook is probably standard for a 10 string polycarbonate stick - what can I do to adjust the playing position, which seems too low?

Thanks, Max

Hi Max,

You can easily replace the non-adjustable belthook with an adjustable one from SE. It will allow you to raise the instrument up relative to the belt. Rather than using the 0 fret as a guide, yous should use the first inlay marker, as many of the pictures you are looking at are of people with 36" scale Sticks, which are 2" longer. I like to suggest that the first inlay marker should be at "top of shoulder" height.

Hope that helps.
