I thought about it, but I would like to have all the info and contributions centralised here.

I’ll try to make a public spreadsheet and update it whenever I post a new version.

What was your idea?

I made one in google sheets and can share it with "comments" so people can say what they agree with or not, and then I can update it and release a new version. THis way we avoid the confusion of having different versions with mismatched gauges.

waltschwarzkopf,
This is great work! I am super happy to see someone doing this.

A comment on your data table:
In several places pitch is incorrectly written with the octave number before the #/b.
I see the following on the 4ths/5ths table (there might be others):
B3b
B0b

C4#

F1#
C2#
G2#
D3#
A3#

Thanks! I corrected them, I will post a new version later, and maybe share a spreadsheet version so others can comment.

I ordered a DBR set from NewTone with custom gauges and the feel and sound excellent.

Awesome! I'm definitely trying them out next time I need a new sett.
Might be sooner than later since the high melody string snapped after only a couple of weeks. Me setting upp the stick from medium to light gauge must have done a number on it. (Re- and detuning a hundred times).

Almost forgot. Here is a photo of gauges on the package of Newtone set I'd bought in 2019, that was listed as
"Tapping string sets for Chapman Stick™ Style instruments - .008-.091-.018 10 string
Type: .008-.091-.018 10 string" in my receipt email.

There was no mention of the supposed tuning on their site, package or receipt.
Can't tell if they are good or not, as I have not used them, because my plan was to use them on my DIY Tapladder clone, and I found a local strings factory to make a custom set for that project before Newtone strings had arrived from UK. Lying around since just in case. Hopefully thanks to your data I would be able to understand what tuning it is supposed to be, if I would have to fallback to this set.
---
Looks to me like it is not really adding anything to what you already might know, after all the same gauges are listed on the Newtone site, but at least this one is a physical paper proof.

Exactly what I was hoping for.

A question Walt.

On the 4ths sheet B0 & E1 are marked as 'bt' rather than as 'w'.

Please pardon my ignorance but I'm not sure what that 'bt' indicates?

PS. Do you have an update? Maybe even the google docs version?

I searched this forum for when I actually bought my Newtone Strings because I remembered having an issue with the tone of the .018" wirewound on the Melody side.

Another poster had the same issue with his .018" on the Melody side and tried a .013" plain string. I did the same and the tone sounded much better with the .013"

It's difficult to compare the number equivalents between wirewound and plain strings but this selection worked out perfect. I've attached a photo of the original package for the "Light" set that I use on my 1978 Vintage Stick. I have four sets of these strings.
