Hi, I just got strings for my 10 and wondered in Greg's tabulature what the finger symbols are. round for index, diamond for middle and square for pinky?

Round = Index
Diamond = Second finger
Triangle = Third finger
Square = Pinky

Upside down triangle = Thumb

All correct. With the exception of the thumb, which we added later, the rest originated in Emmett's Free Hands book.

It should also be noted that when the symbols are used in tabs a hollow symbol indicates a root/tonic. A filled-in symbol indicates another pitch.

Sorry, I'm still confused about notation. I now know the symbols, thanks. I was looking at your video Greg with the notation below. The 5 lines are the strings an the numbers below are the fret. Some notes are written in spaces though but why? And what are the horizontal gray bars. In short, will your book explain all?

In StaffTab the horizontal lines represent BOTH the strings and the staff lines. Noteheads appear in their normal locations, and reflect the rhythm as in standard notation. Horizontal gray bars show you which string a note is played on. There is a bar for every note.
