Very impressive music.
PS: I love the black gaffer tape on his instruments.
I use it a lot for my projects. 8-)

Great sound combining open-tuned plucking with left-hand tapping! :-)

Maybe, but we all have different requirements & aspirations.

With the combination of techniques he's developed, he has access to sounds from tapping, picking, strumming & 'hitting an acoustic guitar body'.

At the risk of cries of heresy, I have to ask what advantages you feel a Stick would offer him?

Easier access to lower notes might be a point, but maybe he's just not interested in that? If he was I imagine his first move might be to see if he could manage to get a bass within reach too?

N.B. Not seeking for an argument. Maybe he'd be intersted? Maybe not? His choice. I'm just wondering what you think might be the immediate appeal to him?

It looks like he already has a that covered (to an extent) too?

A neat idea strapping an eBow on that bass neck...

Post Re: Really nice, but....
I put Shubb capo(s) on the Stick from time to time. And I cut one of them so it only holds down certain strings. But it (they) don't stay on long 'cause I feel it gets in the way of the whole-range thing of the Stick.
I even bought an Ebow for about 5 mins.
Maybe it's just me but as many experiments as I have, the bare-bones simplicity and aesthetic of the Stick design wins out again and again.
Maybe that Chapman guy was on to something...

I'm strongly inclined to agree. :D

Some people seem to like 'complicated'?

...but what ??

that first video was truly one of the most beautiful pieces of music [well, the intro anyway...] that I have heard in a very long time.

I like his choice of instrumentation, he could never do what he is doing there on a stick, by virtue of the stick having a mute [which incidently I have just recently removed on both my 8 string instruments, the SB-8 and RB-8, because removal of the mute opens up more possibilities to me anyway...] I mean, listen to how beautiful those open strings sound even on the second video with the triple neck !!

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the stick, but what this guy is doing, I hope he never changes his path because he is really on to something !!

It's fun doing different things with different instruments.
It keeps things beautiful and inspirational.

Have a Great Day !!
