Post Need help adjusting the 4-way truss rod
Hi all!
Finally I got today my (used) railboard :D
Unfortunately the strings are not reacting as I expected:
1) while tapping both ends (ome going to the head and one to the neck) are ringing. I can also play the strings „open“ like a guitar. So the damper seems not to work properly (due to a bad truss rod setup?)
2) at the high frets the strings are buzzing or they do not ring at all

The railboard has a 4-way truss rod. I tried several compression/tensile setups but I didn‘t manage to get a proper playability.
I saw the video from Greg Howard several times an I see that there is a slight bow but I am not able to get the fretboard properly straight. :(

Do you have any advice or does any documents exist, where the truss rod setup ist explained more in detail?
Unfortunately I do not have the original tools, which makes the setup even more difficult. :?

Thank you very much in advance! :)
Ken

I would schedule a lesson with Greg, I think this would be the best investment you could make at this juncture. Do it right the first time with someone who has experience.

Thank you, earthgene, that’s a good idea!

I updated my response there lol.

Having dedicated time with someone who really understands the relationship of the truss, the bridge and nut is quality time indeed. Heck, I should do that too.
