Re: There appears to be an "unboxing" in my future...
And here it is, in all it's glory. Sounds beautiful, and the action is amazingly low. I think I can get the action a little lower on my rosewood now that I have one that has been setup by a master! Despite traveling cross-country in hot UPS vehicles, it arrived pretty close to in-tune.
The increased string spacing will take a little getting used to, and while I can't play the Minuet (it's tuned MR) I can certainly rip through the bass melody without much problem. I need to lower the belt hook as I did on the rosewood. I'm short to begin with, and I think my trunk might be a little short also, as I had to put the hook in the bottom screw holes to get the first fret marker down near my shoulder. Looks like I'll need to do this with the Railboard also.
I've been studying Greg's "Del Mar" as his Songbook is transcribed for MR so I can work on that on the Railboard while also working on the Minuet in Gm on the rosewood...
So happy to finally have this in hand!!
BTW, for those wondering I ordered this in January of '21 - about 18 months ago. Folks at a local shop who used to be a distributor for Chapman Sticks commented that they've never heard of anyone getting a new Stick in less than a year, so considering all the issues that came up last year between the supply-chain disruptions and Emmett's passing, this really isn't too bad.
