Post EMG RB-10
Hi Yas.

Can anyone say if there is a point of difference between the R block and the EMB RB-10.
It’s been amazing to see such a quick turnaround on a new pick up. I’m just curious about the enhanced mid range of the new pick up and want to know if I’ll be missing out on a certain sound if I don’t ask for this pick up. In other words, is there any perceivable difference between both pick ups?

Cheers,

corn-fused I thought the R-block only came in the one pickup option (villex)
hmm, guess you can't call it an option if there's just one

Word is - there's now a 2nd pickup option for Railboards. A passive EMG block. Haven't heard it yet but if it didn't sound good, Emmett wouldn't offer it.

Oh, I can't sem to find anything on stick.com abt it. why the passives and not the active front tele? is it a depth issue on the railboard?

Yeah it might be. Not a lot of room inside the R-Block for active circuitry and a battery. But then again the original R-Block is essentially passive also and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

seems like there'd be room in the sponson maybe -- or seems like with new tech the batteries are integrated and wayyy smaller, but I don't know if EMG has caught up on that trend (like fishman)

I heard of one guy playing around with lace alumitone pickups b/c they are really thin, but I don't know if anything ever came of that

is there a place to find out that kind of R-block news?
I didn't see anything on the stick enterprises site
I look and looked, but didn't see anything

Hey Rob.

SE sent out an email for those who have been waiting on their Railboards. It seems they are behind in production of Villex’s “R-Block”. The new EMG RB-10 is being offered as a solution for those who don't want to wait for the next batch of R-Blocks and who also don't mind not having all the tone features of the R-Block.

Quoting SE here, I hope that's ok guys... The EMG RB-10 has "a passive two-pickup system with nothing but volume and treble roll-off tone controls on bass and melody sides (4 knobs in all) and a stereo jack."

For me, I'd just like to able to hear it first ,so I can make an objective decision about tone. I'm sure it's awesome.

If it’s as good as the ACTV-2, must be killer.
