New Stick In the Works
I just confirmed with Cambria that my deposit has been accepted and I'm in the next production run! My current Stick is an 80's Polycarb refurbed by Emmett 5 or 6 years ago. I am looking forward to the innovations of lighter weight, Flaps, Rails, and the overall iteration of Emmett's current vision of the classic instrument today. I say that because since the 80's I have been a 10-string, classic tuning, Stickup, Polycarb guy. That's home for me.
My order: Bamboo 10-string, Classic tuning, Stickup, black dots and black Hipshot open-back tuners.
I'm old-school looking forward to "newer-school"
Cheers,
Eric

You'll like the bamboo. I have two bamboo grands and love them both. It's a tough, light and beautiful material.

I had a similar upgrade almost 2 years ago. I went from a mid 90's model (I played it 21 years) to a current model, same tuning and pickup I was used to. I found a world of difference with the new one, all for the better.
You'll enjoy it, Eric.

I’m not sure why they’re not more popular ( or maybe they are and I haven’t noticed ) but I think the bamboo material is the best. Light and just as stable as anything else excepting perhaps the railboards.

+1. I’ve been taking my bamboo stick along on my caribean trips for years. Once settled down (after 1 day), it stays perfectly in tune.

Indeed it’s a beautiful material, and sustainable. I find it a bit strange to play because of the light weight (I prefer feeling something a bit heavier, but that’s my personal taste). BTW, you will have a blast if you come from a Polycarb 80’s stick!

This is exciting news! You’ll like the Rails too. I played an 80s model Ironwood for 16 years and that was the biggest difference in the feel for me.

Re: New Stick In the Works
Stick Enterprises has a rating for each Bamboo Stick - when the instrument is commissioned and prepared, it's given a letter grade, sometimes with pluses or minuses.
I recently acquired a Bamboo 12 with a hybrid pickup and midi. I like the feel, although the 12 definitely takes some getting used to.
You'll love the feel of your new instrument, looking forward to more "bamboo experiences" on this thread.

Me lucky guy owns both and I also prefer the heavier one. [emoji6]

Re: New Stick In the Works
Mine was built in '07 & received Feb. '08 I guess that makes it a compressed bamboo? Anyway it's cool I remember talking to Yuta on the phone before shipping it was in the office. I asked her how it looked, she said, "Beautiful". When I opened it tears came to my eyes. BTW it left SoCal & showed up in Jersey 20 degrees out and it was IN TUNE.
